The Challenge

Raise the most number of meals for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and win fabulous prizes. For the Charity Challenge, one pound of food is equal to one meal, and one dollar donated is equal to two meals. Thus, if a team raised 8,000 pounds of food and $1,000 dollars, they would have raised 10,000 meals.

The Prizes

Luxury Boxes and Premium Seats to An Evening With Jon Stewart & The Daily Show. At least Two Luxury Boxes (capacity 16 per box) and blocks of seats in the Front Five Rows (up to 16 tickets per block) will be given away as prizes for the teams that raise the most number of meals. The top-placing winning teams will have the opportunity to pick the luxury box or the front floor seats as their prize.

The Participants

Teams of up to 16 participants are allowed to compete in the Charity Challenge.The maximum number of seats in a luxury box is 16; the maximum number of floor tickets per block is 16.In order to compete in the Charity Challenge, teams must register by completing the paperwork that will be available at one of the Charity Challenge information sessions or by downloading the forms from ouab.osu.edu starting October 3rd. OSU-Columbus Students, Faculty, and Staff are eligible to compete in the Charity Challenge. Faculty and Staff teams are only eligible to win the luxury boxes as prizes, and therefore must place first or second to be guaranteed a prize.

The Timeline
  • Oct. 1, Oct. 3, and Oct. 5:
    Charity Challenge Information Sessions (time and venue to be announced)
  • Oct. 2 (Monday):
    Tickets for admittance to An Evening With Jon Stewart & The Daily Show will be released at 5pm at the Ohio Union Information Desk
  • Oct. 3-6:
    Registration Period for Charity Challenge. Teams may start collecting donations and non-perishable food items once they are registered.
  • Oct. 3-18:
    Collection Period. Teams can drop off items periodically at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank at their convenience throughout the Challenge, where the food will be weighed and the weight recorded. During this time, teams can also arrange pick-ups by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank if necessary.
  • Oct. 4 (Wednesday):
    Bonus Opportunity - Teams, whether already registered or expecting to register, will be credited with 5 meals per teammate up to 80 meals (16 participants x 5 bonus meals = 80 meals) for attending the Gabriel Iglesias Stand-Up Comedy Show at 8pm at The Ohio Union Ballrooms. Team members will be required to give their name and show their BuckID at the Charity Challenge table either before or after the show. Names will be recorded for unregistered, prospective participants.
  • Oct. 18, 5pm (Wednesday):
    All drop-offs to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank must be complete. A team representative should report to the Ohio Union (location TBA) between 5 and 6pm to turn over all checks and monies collected to Challenge Organizers. The Mid-Ohio Food Bank will write Tax Donation Letters to all donors who contribute by check, and will mail these letters within a week of receipt.
  • October 23 (Monday)
    Winners will be announced and tickets to the luxury boxes or blocks of tickets in the front section will be distributed. The top placing teams will have the opportunity to select their prize.
How To Register

Either attend an Info Session on Oct. 1, Oct. 3, or Oct. 5 (times and venues TBA) and get a registration packet, or download the registration packet from ouab.osu.edu starting October 3rd. Completed packets must be returned to the The Source, located at Room 211 of the Ohio Union. Teams must include a registration fee of $20, part of which will be used to administer the competition with the remainder going to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.

The Rules

The official rules will be distributed at the Info Sessions and will be available online along with the Registration Packet.
