OUAB Member of the Week-11/10/09
Catie was nominated by Special Events Chair, Will Burnard:
"Caitie was asked to do attendance history for Frank Warren's College Tour '09. She contacted a whole bunch of schools and compiled all the information in an easy to read format in order for the executive board to better make a decision on the proposal and projected attendance numbers. She was requested to do this and get info in a relatively short amount of time compared to what we usually ask our general members to do."

Catie talks about some more of what she was doing and some of her favorite things about OUAB:
"To help out for Frank Warren I contacted some of the schools that he spoke at this fall for his Post Secret Tour. Some of these schools included the University of Florida, Southern Illinois, Western Michigan, and Iowa. I found out what the estimated attendance was at each event, cost for public and student tickets, and just some overall information on how his speech went. I then compiled the information for consideration about the Executive Board. "
Thanks for all of your hard work Catie. You deserve it!
OUAB Member of the Week-11/3/09
Congratualations to Chelsea Patton for being OUAB Member of the Week!
Chelsea was nominated by Concerts Chair, Sarah Downs:
"I nominated Chelsea Patton for Member of the Week because of her help with the Third Eye Blind Concert. She woke up at a very early hour to pick up rental vans even though the electricity in off campus housing was out! She helped grocery shop that morning, and do many other tasks during the day. She was a great OUAB Member and deserves to be Member of the Week!"
Chelsea talks about some more of what she was doing for the Third Eye Blind, and some of her favorite things about OUAB:
"Helping with the Third Eye Blind concert was a total whirlwind. I live off campus and we woke up without power that morning. Of course the only day all year I had to get up before the sun, we didn't have light in my house. When the sun finally did come up, we were able to accomplish the hospitality tasks for the band such as shopping at Whole Foods for their requested items. Although the day started off in the dark, it ended up being one of my most memorable OUAB experiences. I helped with the concert throughout the day and worked the door for the event, which was actually really entertaining. I had never seen TEB live before and the concert was outstanding. We even got to meet the band afterward!
This is my fourth year with OUAB and I have many fond memories with the organization. My sophomore year I worked the Lupe Fiasco concert which was amazing. I was project leader for the Tango event a few years back which was really interesting learning how to tango. This year I was project leader for Walk A Mile with Kaitlyn which was hilarious to witness guys legitimately running a mile in high heels. Lastly, our annual Collab kickball game is always a highlight of the year, crushing another committee on the field in friendly competition. OUAB has provided me with many exciting and unique opportunities over the past several years!"
Thanks for all of your hard work Chelsea. You deserve it!
OUAB Member of the Week-10/27/09
Congratualations to Kaitlyn McDowell for being OUAB Member of the Week!
Kaitlyn was nominated by Dates and Data Chair, Shari Lee:
"I nominated Kaityln to be Member for the Week, because she did an excellent job doing research for me this past week. This quarter the Dates & Data committee only has one active returning member, so I asked the rest of the general members if they would like to volunteer to help my committee do general tasks until we receive our new members in November. Kaityln was selected as one of my volunteers and I asked her to complete a researching task this week. She needed to contact multiple perspective talents for a spring event series my committee is working on putting together. She got back to me with all the required information in a timely manner and was the only volunteer to get responses from all of her talents. Later in the week she informed me that she had fallen ill and would not be able to make the meeting the following Tuesday, but was more than willing to help out in any additional way that she should. The fact that she got all of her tasks accomplished while feeling under the weather, while still offering to do more was really incredible to me. It was a great effort on her part to get all of this work completed while still attending to the needs of her own committee. She helped me out a lot this week and honestly, without her effort myself and my committee would not have been able to put together a comprehensive event proposal. She definitely deserves to be named OUAB Member of the Week."

Kaitlyn talks about some more of what she was doing for Dates and Data and some of her favorite things about OUAB:
"I was researching OSU alumni to come and help celebrate the new opening of the Ohio Union in April. The research I did was really interesting because I got to talk on the phone to different agents about the possibility of brining people to Ohio State. When I am doing the research, I always forget that I am researching not only for OUAB but for all the students that attend Ohio State, which is an awesome feeling. I love to think that I am helping to put on events for the whole campus! One of my favorite memories in OUAB was when I got the opportunity to be project leader for Walk A Mile in Her Shoes, which was basically an event to help raise awareness of abusive relationships and guys walked a mile around campus in heels! It was a really fun event with a great purpose. Some other OUAB events that I've gotten to volunteer at are the Augustana/Dashboard Confessional Concert [apart of the Big Free Concert annually put on in the spring], Flicks for Free, and the Involvement Fair. At each event I got to do completely different tasks, and each event allowed me to see a different aspect of OUAB. OUAB is a diverse group of students with very new and exciting events going on all the time, which is why I love it!"
Thanks for all of your hard work Kaitlyn. You deserve it!
